Callahan, I am so thankful to have you as a friend and fellow artist. With regard to #3 I would love to have more of a discussion so I can understand this idea more deeply. At first glance, I know it to be true but am not sure how it can be realized and sustained.

Would be happy to have a discussion with you about this Ruth. We do indeed need ways to sustain us economically. Sometimes it becomes our art, but, it will corrupt the art process if there is pressure to make ‘money’ as the impetus. In that way in my view being an artist is different from other professions. For myself I have tried to have professions that are complimentary; my counseling practice and also as you know, I have a business (my floorcloths) that is a ‘craft’ and has much of my artistic self in it but is meant to be ‘decorative’ and to maket. I intend to seek ways for my paintings to gain representation and hopefully to sell as well, more than anything I want my work ‘seeen’/experienced. I think that this is an age old issue. Let’s talk more because this is such an important issue.
